What is PNP – The Best Alternative To Get Canada PR?
The arrangement between the federal and provincial/territorial governments of Canada to decide on the matters of who can immigrate and be made a permanent resident for their exemplary contribution to the economy and society is unique.
The genesis of the Provincial Nominee Program lies in this unique arrangement. These programs have come a long way since their inception in 1995.
Today, with more than 80+ PNP streams (programs that target certain groups) spread across 11 Canadian provinces and territories, the Provincial Nominee Program is the second-largest economic-class immigration program for Canada PR after the Express Entry.
How To Qualify For Any Provincial Nominee Program?
These 11 Canadian provinces and territories target:
-
- Foreign skilled/semi-skilled workers

With the introduction of the Express Entry system in 2015, the provincial nominee program streams aligned with it are now divided into two types of provincial nominations:
“Enhanced” provincial nomination: Eligible skilled/semi-skilled workers registered in the federal Express Entry pool may also meet the labor demand of a specific Canadian province and thus, nominated by it. These are called “enhanced” provincial nominations.
Further, candidates in the Express Entry pool who obtain a provincial nomination are awarded an additional 600 points under the Comprehensive Ranking System, out of a total of 1,200. This may result in an invitation to apply for permanent residence in a subsequent draw from the Express Entry pool.
“Base” provincial nomination: Candidates who are not eligible to register in the Express Entry pool – say Entrepreneurs, but qualify for any of the provincial nominee program streams end up receiving “base” nominations.
